The OAJ already keeps the actuator system of JPCam in its clean room. After its arrival in mid January, the engineering team has carried out the integration of the system at the observatory in order to start with the verification and fine-tune processes, first in the clean room and, finally, in the JST250 telescope.

The actuator system task is to perform accurate positioning of the cryogenic system of JPCam during observation in order to guarantee the high image quality of the scientific data. Once it is fine-tuned, the actuator system must relocate every moment the 600 kg of the cryogenic subsystem of JPCam with a precision of 4 microns in real time.

In the next few weeks CEFCA will carry out integration tests of the actuator system in the OAJ control system and precision metrology tests. Once validated, the actuator system will be integrated with the JPAS-Pathfinder provisional camera, with which CEFCA will carry out the fine-tune and the accuracy fitting of the actuator system at the telescope and the adquisition of the first JST250 scientific data. This first light camera will be replaced by JPCam on its arrival at OAJ in the second half of this year.
