The "Centro de Estudios de Física del Cosmos de Aragón" (CEFCA) invites applications for an outreach contract starting as soon as possible. The position, with a duration of 3 months approximately, is conceived within the framework of the Project “4D Galaxy Formation and Evolution with the J-PLUS and J-PAS Multi-filter Surveys at the OAJ”, which is funded for the 2016-2018 period through the project code AYA2015-66211-C2-1-P (MINECO/FEDER; P.Is. Javier Cenarro & Carlos López-Sanjuan).

CEFCA is an independent research institute located in Teruel, Spain, that provides an excellent environment at the interface between observational and theoretical astronomy. Current research topics include: large-scale structure of the Universe and cosmological probes, physics of galaxy formation and evolution, and the exploitation of large datasets such as J-PAS, J-PLUS and ALHAMBRA. Additionally, CEFCA develops and operates the Observatorio Astrofísico de Javalambre (OAJ), which is equipped with world-class survey telescopes. Moreover, CEFCA has promoted the development of GALACTICA, a center for outreach and practice of astronomy located downhill the OAJ.

The applicant will join the outreach group at CEFCA and will participate in the following tasks related with the projection and dissemination of J-PLUS and J-PAS results:

  • Update and maintenance of the J-PLUS web page.
  • Coordination and preparation of big format astronomical images for public exhibition both in Teruel and GALACTICA.
  • Citizen science with J-PLUS images and other general outreach activities related with the OAJ, J-PLUS/J-PAS data and GALACTICA.

Previous Experience

Applicants should hold a Master in Astronomy and have previous expertise in outreach activities.

Proven knowledge and understanding of the J-PLUS and J-PAS projects is highly required.

Terms and conditions

Work Place:CEFCA Headquarters, Teruel, Spain, with possible visits to the OAJ and GALACTICA
Contract Duration:The appointment is for an approximate period of 3 months.
Salary:16.477,44 Eur/year (before taxes).
