Trio of solar eclipses

In 2026, 2027 and 2028, three solar eclipses will cross over Spain. These phenomena remind us of the capacity of science and nature to fascinate and excite, to inspire those who will continue researching in the future and to mobilise people around the world.

In this section, you will find simple, basic information, with scientific rigour, about these events, which have not been visible from the Iberian Peninsula for more than a century. In this section you will discover the many dimensions of an astronomical event such as an eclipse, which is at the same time a social occasion and an opportunity to enjoy science and nature.

On 12 August 2026 there will be a unique chance to experience a total solar eclipse in its full splendour—something that has not happened in the Iberian Peninsula since 1912.
