JST250 Telescope

JST / T250 telescope of the Observatorio Astrofísico de Javalambre (OAJ) was completely integrated on September 2, 2014.

The integration of the telescope with the final optical elements was made after a previous test phase in which the mechanical and control parts of the telescope were verified with dummies instead of the real optical elements. Once these tests, which were conducted on June 2014, were successfully completed, the telescope was almost completely dismantled in order to replace these dummies for the primary (M1) and secondary (M2) mirrors.

A lifting platform with capacity up to 10 tons was used to transport the optical elements and their mechanical supports from the loading dock of the OAJ, where the dismantling and integration works were performed, to the floor of the telescope. The loading dock of the OAJ is located in the basement of the JST / T250 building, below ground level. The lifting platform was specifically designed and manufactured for this task.
